Join us for a hands-on workshop on the new BC Legislation for Zoning Requirements for co-Designing Transit and Housing Hubs and a private tour of the New Broadway Subway Station.

Building more homes near transit hubs is the focus of new proposed legislation aimed at speeding up the delivery of housing and encouraging more communities near the transit facilities services, and amenities that make life better for people. The Broadway Subway Project – one of Canada’s largest urban transit projects – is a unique example of cutting-edge station design paired with the first model of the new BC Zoning requirements.

This workshop will provide an in-depth analysis of the new zoning legislation while examining how Western communities can create functional and beautiful transit and housing hubs. Topics to be covered include:

  • Analyzing the new BC zoning legislation and implications for transit providers and related sectors, including development levees and rights to lands surrounding transit hubs
  • Reviewing new building code requirements and how they could impact transit projects
  • Evaluating best practices for updating project design and applying for approval for new changes
