We understand that there is still uncertainty in the current environment. As a result, we are enhancing our cancellation policy to provide you with worry-free registration.

*Full Credit Memo – Fees will be held on account for 12 months from issue date. This credit is fully transferable to anyone within your organization and may be used towards any C5 Group (American Conference Institute, The Canadian Institute, C5 Communications) conference or product offering.

Transferring from In Person to Livestream
If you are no longer able to attend in person, you may transfer to livestream up to 10 days before the conference commences. No transfers are permitted within 10 days of the conference start date.

If you cancel a registration that included a complimentary or discounted product, the full cost of the complimentary or discounted product will be deducted from any eligible refund or credit memo (in addition to any cancellation fee assessed).

No credits or refunds will be given on the purchase of virtual event, on-demand products and recordings after access has been granted.

No liability is assumed by The Canadian Institute for changes in program date, content, speakers or venue. The Canadian Institute reserves the right to cancel any conference it deems necessary and will, in such event, make a full refund of any registration fee, but will not be responsible for airfare, hotel or other costs incurred by registrants.


Delegate Substitutions
If you wish to send a substitute participant in your place, you must notify us by email at least 5 days prior to the conference. Delegates may not “share” a pass between multiple attendees without prior authorization.


Payment and Discount Policy
Payment is due upon registration. We accept most major credit cards and bank transfers. If you require cheque payment, please contact customer service for details. Advanced/Early bookings made without payment will be reassessed at the next tier rate once the rate has expired. To ensure admittance, full payment must be received prior to the event.

On-site and unpaid registrations where payment confirmation has not been received before the event must be guaranteed by a valid credit card. The credit card guarantee may be provided in advance or supplied during registration at the event. If payment is not received within thirty (30) days of the event the credit card provided will be charged.

All discounts including group and special discounts, apply to the conference fee only and do not apply to workshops or other add-ons. No two discounts or offers can be combined. All conference fees must be paid in full at the time of the order in order for any discount to be applied. *Group discounts are available only to individuals employed by the same organization and must be registered at the same time.

Special Discounts
We offer special pricing for government attorneys/employees, academics, judges, law students, and attorneys/representatives from non-profit organizations. Eligibility
CI reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any virtual or in-person conference, meeting or webinar, for health and safety, space capacity, past or present conduct or other reasons deemed necessary for the successful execution of our business goals.


Health and Safety
The health and safety of our attendees is our number one priority. We closely monitor all local and international alerts regarding public health and proceed according to the local and national health guidelines respective to the location of our events. Attendance at our events remains an individual decision with any considerations to be assessed by the attendee and/or their organization. By agreeing to be a registered attendee of our conferences, you freely waive, release from liability, assume all risks, and covenant not to sue C5 Group of Companies, its members, employees, board members, or volunteers for any expense, loss, damage, personal illness/injury, including loss of life, disability, or actions of any kind that they may hereafter suffer or sustain before, during, or after the event. Our conferences will be implemented in accordance with guidelines issued by the relevant health, safety and regulatory authorities where the conference is held. Decisions regarding the foregoing are made on the basis of our concern for the health and safety of our customers and employees.

By attending our conferences, you agree to the In-Person Conference Participation Requirements as outlined on our website which may include a vaccine and/or mask requirement.


Infectious Disease Warning
We will implement safety measures in accordance with guidelines issued by the relevant health, safety and regulatory authorities where the conference is held for the safety of all of our customers and employees. It is imperative that all registrants for our conferences follow all instructions when attending the conference.

An inherent risk of exposure to infectious diseases exist in any public place where people are present. Some infectious diseases can lead to severe illness and death and can be extremely dangerous to senior citizens and to any person that has underlying chronic health problems. If you are uncertain as to your health, you should not register for the conference until you have consulted a medical advisor about the risks that you may be exposed to.

By registering for this conference, you confirm that (a) you are fully aware the risks and hazards with respect to your attendance and participation at the conference; (b) you freely and voluntarily agree to assume all risks that may result, including the risk of death, bodily injury or property damage, regardless of severity, that you may sustain as a result of your attendance at the conference; and (c) you agree to release The Canadian Institute, Inc. (C.I. Communications Corp. Canada) and its affiliates (or any of their respective customers, employees, board members, directors, agents or volunteers) (collectively “Releasees“) from all damages or claims (“Claims“) of any kind that you might suffer if you contract an infectious disease, and will not hold any Releasees liable for any such Claims.


You also agree to adhere to the conference participation requirements and where applicable supply proof of vaccination or a negative test on-site at registration.

You may be required to conduct an infectious disease self-screening at the conference and agree to forego attendance if you may have an infectious disease that puts our employees and other attendees at risk of contracting a significant infectious disease.

By registering for our events, you agree to receiving email communication from The Canadian Institute and affiliated companies: C5 Group of Companies (consisting of ACI, and C5), and in accordance with regional legislation, about virtual and onsite conferences, informative webinars, exclusive networking opportunities, valuable content and special offers. You will have the ability to withdraw this consent at any time by selecting the unsubscribe option on the messages you receive or contacting us at [email protected].

In addition, by registering for our events, you also agree that The Canadian Institute may disclose your personal contact information to affiliates and selected sponsors and partners. If you do not wish for us to share your information, please email [email protected].

CI’s Code of Conduct
The Canadian Institute (CI) community is made up of a network of people with a common agenda, cause, and interests, who collaborate by sharing ideas, information, and resources. It is of utmost importance to CI that each and every person attending one of our conferences and events has a positive and rewarding experience and to that end, we invite all sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, service providers, and others (“Participants”) to help us realize a safe, respectful, and positive experience for everyone. When you participate in an event hosted by CI you are contributing to the overall experience, which makes us all accountable to each other.

The Canadian Institute established this Code of Conduct to provide guidelines to Participants and to ensure that all understand what behavior is expected, and what behavior will not be tolerated at a CI event.

CI expects all Participants to abide by this Code of Conduct at all events. This includes conference-related social events at off-site locations, and in related online communities and social media.

CI is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive event experience for everyone regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, or other protected category. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.


Expected Behavior
The Canadian Institute (CI) expects that all attendees will:

  1. Be considerate and respectful to all attendees.
  2. Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior, materials, and speech.
  3. Speak up if they observe anything at an event that conflicts with this Code of Conduct. If you are being harassed or feel uncomfortable, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of CI event staff immediately.

Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior from any community member will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech, materials, or conduct by any Participants of the event and related event activities. Many event venues are shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations.
  2. Violence, threats of violence, or violent language directed against another person.
  3. Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory comments and language.
  4. Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or disability.
  5. Inappropriate photography or recording.
  6. Taking of photos within the event environment for use on social media or elsewhere, without the prior permission of the individuals or owners of the content therein.
  7. Any boisterous, lewd, or offensive behavior or language, including but not limited to using sexually explicit or offensive language, materials or conduct, or any language, behavior, or content that contains profanity, obscene gestures, or racial, religious, or ethnic slurs.
  8. Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the event venue.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a Participant engages in unacceptable behavior, CI may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the event with no refund. For more egregious behavior, CI may, in its reasonable discretion, temporarily ban or permanently expel a Participant from the CI community.


What to do if you witness or are subjected to unacceptable behavior
If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify CI event staff or contact the VP, Global Marketing as soon as possible. CI event staff will be available to assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the event. All reports will remain completely confidential.


Promotional Photos and Videos
Participation at and registration (attendee, guest and exhibitor) for the conference gives consent to the use and distribution of the participants’ image or voice in any pictures, video or audio recordings, or electronic reproductions taken during CI events for conference coverage and future promotional purposes. CI is able to use your likeness without remuneration.
