Dominion connects shale gas to consumers, posted on Farm and Dairy

Dominion, one of the nation’s largest energy companies, has contracted to deliver 500,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas produced in West Virginia to various interconnections with pipelines in Ohio, as producers look westward to seek new markets for Marcellus production. The company also has closed on agreements with two natural gas producers to lease approximately 100,000 acres of Marcellus shale rights underneath several of its natural gas storage fields in West Virginia. [Read More…]  

Driller Demands Rules on N.Y. Fracking by Marlene Kennedy, posted on Courthouse News Service

An oil and gas driller blames its bankruptcy on New York’s foot-dragging, and wants the state ordered to complete its long-awaited rules for shale fracking. Norse Energy Corp. USA claims 5½ years have passed and New York still has not posted regulations to govern horizontal drilling and high-volume hydraulic fracturing – “fracking” – of the energy-rich Marcellus Shale formation. The company claims Gov. Andrew Cuomo improperly thrust himself into deliberations on the new rules, known as SGEIS – supplemental generic environmental impact statement – which prolonged the review. [Read More…]
