1st Quality Safety

A half-day, high-engagement workshop that equips supervisors and frontline leaders to move their crews from compliance to commitment. Participants learn how safety behaviour is shaped by internal drivers, how pressure erodes culture, and how to strengthen the conversations and leadership actions that keep people safe — especially during shutdowns, turnarounds, and high-risk work.

  • Why safety breaks down when pressure rises
  • Understanding the SPIES Model and the 5 internal motivators – self, political, intellectual, emotional, spiritual
  • Using the SPIES ladder to identify where crews operate and where they fall under pressure: reactive, dependent, independent, interdependent
  • Winning the hearts and minds of workers to reinforce safe behaviours and elevate everyday safety conversations
  • Strengthening Stop Work Authority by understanding why workers hesitate and what leaders can do to build a culture where stopping work is supported

The workshop includes a breakout scenario lab where groups analyze real-world safety situations, identify immediate practical actions, and close with key takeaways that reinforce how culture shows up when pressure is highest.
