How do you build a roadmap that embraces innovation, responds to disruption, and keeps an ambitious healthcare technology vision moving forward?

In 2018, New St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC, set out to become the most digitally advanced hospital in Western Canada. The hospital reached service commencement in summer 2026, with first patient day planned for spring 2027 and is on track to reach all ICAT goals outlined in its original vision. Along the way, the team has adapted its technology plans through a pandemic, major technology shifts, and the emergence of AI in healthcare.

Using New St. Paul’s Hospital as a real life example, Jeannie Gandham and Nancy Nguyen will guide participants through Vision and Roadmap, the first two phases of the proven technology strategy: Vision → Roadmap → Implement → Realize → Celebrate.

Bring a real technology idea, use case, concept, requirement, or goal from your organization. Through guided exercises and peer discussion, you will shape it into a clear vision and draft an agile roadmap to advance it.

The workshop teach leaders how to:

  • Define an ambitious IT vision tied to clinical, operational, innovation and organizational goals
  • Identify the people, requirements and decisions needed to develop that vision
  • Prioritize opportunities across technology, workflows and the built environment
  • Map key activities, dependencies and decision points
  • Build flexibility into a roadmap so it can adapt as needs and technology change

Come with an idea. Leave with a clearer vision and a draft roadmap you can develop with your team.
