RONGENEREUX isVice President, Productivity and Construction,with Suncor Energy. Ron joined SuncorEnergy in 1988 as an engineer in training. In the almost 30 years since then -he has moved throughout the company holding various technical and leadershiproles. In 2002, Ron was an integral part of the senior leadership team taskedwith the creation and stand-up of the Major Projects organization. The newgroup was responsible for providing project management expertise and consistentapplication of process to the development of Suncor’s capital growth projects.Ron has led several major projects at Suncor including the Flue GasDesulphurization project, Millennium Bitumen Production construction scope,5C-99 Fractionator Project, Millennium Vacuum Unit, 1995 Fractionator Rebuild,Millennium Coker Unit, the front-end planning work on the Voyageur Project from2004 to 2007 and a suite of Operating Plant Projects. Currently, as VicePresident, Productivity and Construction, and as a senior member of Suncor'sMajor Projects leadership team, Ron is accountable for ensuring all growthprojects are executed in a safe manner that supports Suncor’s vision ofimproved productivity and sustainability. Ron holds a Bachelor of Science inMechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. He is a member ofthe Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA),holds an Alberta First Class Power Engineers’ Certificate and is a Board memberand Best Practices Chair with the Construction Owners Association of Alberta.
