Huw Williams
President
Impact Public Affairs
What is it about?
(Registration opens at 8:30am)This workshop will provide you with the strategies and tools you need to effectively work through grassroots organizations and other coalitions. What are the best strategies for engagement? How can you customize your message to ensure it appeals to the grassroots? What are some on-the-ground tactics for identifying your influencers and successfully cascading your message? Walk away with the answers to these questions and more, including how to:
- Utilize social media to create a ‘viral’ effect
- Focus on engaging the ‘low hanging fruit’ first and generate momentum
- Learn from examples of past successful strategies
- Anticipate the ‘next big thing’ and leverage word of mouth
Workshop B| Managing Risks and Leveraging Opportunities during Political Campaign Phases
John Laschinger
Senior Research Director
NorthStar
What is it about?
(Registration opens at 12:30pm)While in the midst of a political campaign phase, it becomes all the more critical to ensure that your public affairs strategy is nimble enough to respond to a potential transition, whether in policy objectives or in leadership altogether. Yet this approach must be stabilized by a strong, clear message. How can you strike this often precarious balance? This workshop will provide tools for executing your strategy during a political campaign. This includes:
- Anticipating changes in leadership and adjusting your strategies
- Developing awareness of how to manage your key issues in the face of changing stakeholders and general uncertainty
- Aligning yourself with the government to become an essential element of the campaign agenda
