Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS)

The Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) provides practical tools for accomplishing community visionary ends through socio-economic programs and services that empower self-reliance, responsibility, success and prosperity for urban Aboriginal individuals, families and the community. VAFCS assists Aboriginal people to access education and training, address housing issues and provide shelter and services for homeless people. We offer family support programs, recreation and after school programs and offer youth leadership programs and support for families. VAFCS strives to provide holistic and cultural services to all its community members. While the VAFCS community is primarily a multi-generational urban Aboriginal population, VAFCS continues to assist with the transition of Indigenous people from reserve and rural environments. VAFCS is guided by an all Indigenous board of directors which includes the voices of Youth, Women and Elder’s.
