“Well organized, excellent speakers, excellent food, good scheduling. I think it will allow First Nation communities to develop strategies to improve housing.” Shauna Loewe, Athabasca Basin Development “Great presentations. Interesting information. Stayed on schedule. Good variety of topics.” Samantha Webster, Seabird Island Band “Diverse, complementary subject matter.” Mike Delisle, DCHC, USand The reality of limited budgets on First Nations reserves requires unique approaches to generate needed capital sources for key infrastructure. However, new initiatives in place, including increased government spending, hold the potential to give First Nations housing departments and economic development corporations, as well as outside contractors, the financial tools to build bridges, roads, power, water and communication lines into remote communities; to build new schools and to upgrade employment skills; to improve housing and improve quality of life. It’s more than just a roof. It’s about being part of a resilient and thriving community. I look forward to meeting you this December to discuss these ideas and more!
