RUTH CORBIN is Chair ofCorbin Partners Inc., a marketing sciencefirm specializing in forensic market research and intellectual propertyevaluation. An Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School since 2003, she hastaught courses in intellectual property evidence, trademarks, and judgment anddecision-making, and will join the faculty of the 2016 summer program ininternational law of Monash University in Prato, Italy. Ruth has served on theBoards of several public companies, private enterprises and not-for-profitcorporations Her undergraduate training was in mathematics, followed by M.Sc.and Ph.D. degrees in psychology from McGill. She subsequently earned an LL.M.from Osgoode Hall Law School and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from CarletonUniversity for lifetime contributions to forensic evidence and intellectualproperty law. Previously she has been Canadian President for Kroll Worldwide,CEO of Decision Resources Inc., Chief Operating Officer of the Angus ReidGroup, and Adjunct Professor at the Rotman School of Business. She was named bythe Globe and Mail and the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100women, in the category of Trailblazers and Trendsetters, for her work in boardgovernance and intellectual property. She has also been named among Canada’sTop 100 women entrepreneurs by Rogers Media, and among University of TorontoUniversity College’s most influential alumnae. Ruth has authored or co-authoredbooks and various articles on expert evidence in the social sciences, includingthe original chapter on Survey Evidence in the Federal Court electronicbenchbook for intellectual property. As an expert witness, she has beenretained for affidavits and appearances before the FederalCourt, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, British Columbia Supreme Court,Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, and Quebec Superior Court, before privateadjudicators, and before various regulatory bodies and tribunals including theCanadian International Trade Tribunal, Trade-Marks Opposition Board, theOntario Municipal Board, the Copyright Board of Canada, Advertising StandardsCanada, the Competition Bureau Canada and the Triennial Judges’ CompensationCommission as an expert witness in the fields of intellectual property,international marketing, trade-mark infringements, advertising impacts, brandequity, statistical analysis, survey research, misleading advertising, and juryselection for criminal proceedings.
