Role Summary:
CI is hiring a talented and enthusiastic Junior Web Developer. The primary role and responsibility of the Junior Web Developer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of C5 Group Inc.’s event websites for our global locations in Toronto, New York and London (UK) as well as any 3rd party associations we partner with. It is a fast-paced environment, with 100’s of events going online per year, all requiring a high degree of accuracy in support of our international customers. Communication with the team is key. This role is behind the scenes; supporting and aiding the other developers in their tasks.

The Canadian Institute operates as a think tank, monitoring trends and developments in all major industry sectors, the law, and public policy, with a view to providing information on the leading edge. Headquartered in Toronto, CI has grown to produce more than 140 events each year, attended by thousands of senior delegates from across the country.

Core Responsibilities:
  • 1-2 years of experience in basic web development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • University Graduate in Computer Science or Diploma in Web Design and Programming
  • Experience in development of responsive web pages using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (CSS Grid, Bootstrap and JQuery is an asset)
  • Experience in using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of tools
  • Experience in object-oriented design and development, PHP and MySQL would be a bonus
  • Experience in developing WordPress themes using responsive frameworks
  • Experience in developing responsive emails and landing pages
  • Some knowledge of, or familiarity with, the Git version control system
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
  • Good overall communication skills for ongoing verbal and written contact with Team members/peers
  • Enjoy working with team of professionals who will challenge ideas
  • Positive and constructive “can do” attitude
  • Demonstrated team player who is responsible and accountable
Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Grade 12 diploma (college or university degree preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good listening skills with the ability to overcome customer objections.
  • Multi-tasking ability and strong time management skills.
  • Exercises good judgment and makes effective, sound, timely and informed decisions.
  • Bilingual – French or Spanish (written and spoken) an asset.
  • 2 years customer service related experience
  • Call Centre experience a definite asset
