MICHAELFLANIGAN brings twenty-five years of experiencein partnering with different levels of government, non-profit and privatehousing partners, and the development community to promote the creation ofaffordable housing. In 2001, after five years as Director of Leasing and VicePresident for Hong Kong based Henderson Development, Michael joined the City ofVancouver as the Deputy Director of Real Estate Services. Six years later,Michael served as the Director of Real Estate Services, where he wasresponsible for the strategic planning and financial management of the City’sthree billion dollar Property Endowment Fund. In the fall of 2013, Michaelaccepted the position of Vice-President, Development and Asset Strategies forBC Housing. BC Housing’s role is to assist British Columbians in need ofaffordable housing by providing options along the housing continuum. They workin partnership with the private and non-profit sectors, provincial health authoritiesand ministries, other levels of government and community groups to develop arange of housing options. Development and Asset Strategies facilitates thecreation of new housing through a range of programs; provides portfolioplanning and strategies for the maintenance, capital improvement, redevelopmentand sustainability of social housing and coordinates major repairs,renovations, capital improvements and energy retrofits for social housing.Michaelholds a degree in Urban Land Economics and Finance from University of BritishColumbia.
