LAURIEJOHNSON has over 30 years of experience in the retirement homesector; first as an owner/operator of two residences followed by experience asa regional director of operations for a large Canadian chain. She served 7 years on the ORCA Board ofDirectors including 2 years as Board Chair. In 2006, she started up her ownconsultancy, specializing in operations and sales and marketing support forseniors housing. In 2011, Laurie accepted the role of CEO of the OntarioRetirement Communities Association and feels that her career in this industryhas come full circle. ORCA has revamped its member service offerings to becomea “one stop shop” for all aspects of education, training and compliancesupport. This new focus has resulted inmembership growth of over 50% in 4 years, positioning the association as “thevoice of the sector”. ORCA is nowlooking to be a more inclusive trade association with extended membership forall types of seniors' housing and a national network through the CanadianSenior Living Alliance (CASL). Laurie has a BA from York University and is aCertified Executive Coach (CEC) and an accredited member of the InternationalCoach Federation.
