Assistant Deputy Minister, Housing Division at Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing

JANETHOPE was appointed Assistant DeputyMinistry, Housing Division at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing inJune 2010. In this role, Janet leads policy and program initiatives relating tohousing and homelessness in Ontario. Under Janet’s leadership, the Division has developed the Long-TermAffordable Housing Strategy, implemented the Investment in Affordable HousingProgram to improve access to housing outcomes for Ontarians, and establishedthe Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) to provide a moreflexible, outcomes-oriented approach for local communities to address and preventhomelessness. Prior to her current appointment, she served in a variety ofsenior management roles in the Ontario Public Service, including Director,Planning and Strategic Policy with the Ministry of Community and SocialServices; Director, Municipal Finance Policy at the Ministry of MunicipalAffairs and Housing; and Director, Colleges Branch, Ministry of Training,Colleges and Universities. Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in politicalscience from the University of Waterloo, and a Master of Arts degree inpolitical science, public policy and administration from McMaster University.
