JASON BEITCHMAN is a lawyer at RueterScargall Bennett LLP whose practice focuses on commerciallitigation, appeals, regulatory and administrative advocacy and the defence ofclass actions. He has represented clients in seven different provinces andappeared in provincial and appellate courts across Canada, including theFederal Court, Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Jasonhas been counsel in some of the leading appellate level decisions in the areasof copyright law, class actions and administrative law, including leadingdecisions under the Proceeds of Crime(Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act. Jason is a member of theExecutive Committee of the Ontario Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Section,having twice been elected by his peers. He recently participated in a CivilJustice Delays Working Group that provided recommendations to Toronto’sRegional Senior Justice on ways to improve efficiency and access to justice forlitigants in the Ontario courts. Immediately prior to joining Rueter ScargallBennett LLP, Jason spent five years as a litigator at one of Canada’s largestlaw firms. Prior to that, Jason served as a law clerk to Justice Robert L.Barnes of the Federal Court of Canada.
