Economic and Environmental Impacts of Transitioning to a Cleaner Electricity Grid in Western CanadaAllan Fogwill When considering alternative pathways which will transform the electricity grid in Canada’s four western provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the high resolution spatial and temporal explicit interconnectivity of each electric power system must also be considered. Allan will present the CERI research team’s findings which identify different pathways to achieving deeper emissions reductions, impacts on the system reliability, value of trade and impacts on electricity rates. Allan will also provide insights into necessary attributes of technologies and system configurations that would facilitate the transition to cleaner electric power systems. |
