Creating Your Biography

To assist us in introducing you, we include biographies for all speakers in the conference workbook.

Your biography should describe your present position and your accomplishments, particularly those that are relevant to this conference.

It should be less than 300 words in length, in sentence form.

SAMPLE BIOGRAPHY 1

MS. JANE DOE is Director of Environment and Sustainable Development at the University of New Brunswick. She chairs the Market Advisory Committee for the New Brunswick System Operator and served on the Market Design Committee. She is former Chair of the Energy Task Group of the Premier’s Round Table on Environment and Economy and was a member of the Joint Public Review Panel for the Sable Gas Projects. Jane has worked on a wide variety of sustainable development projects in China and Vietnam as well as Canada. She holds an M. Phil degree from Cambridge University and a B. A. from Cornell University. She is a Member of the International Joint Commission for the St. Croix Waterway, a member of the Board of the Huntsman Marine Science Centre and an Honorary Trustee of the Nature Trust of New Brunswick. She lives in St. Andrews, New Brunswick in a house that received an award as the most energy efficient R2000 house built in New Brunswick in 2004.

SAMPLE BIOGRAPHY 2 (Legal)

Mr. JOHN M. DOE is a Partner at Smith, Smith & Smith, Barristers and Solicitors, Toronto. Mr. Doe graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School (1983), and was admitted to the Ontario Bar (1985). Mr. Doe represents employers in collective agreement negotiations and Arbitrations, preparation of employment contracts, workers’ compensation and occupational health and safety matters. Much of his work focuses on helping employers prepare policies to prevent sexual and racial harassment in the workplace. Mr. Doe has written and lectured widely on all aspects of labor and employment law. He is an instructor on employment law for The Law Society of Upper Canada. Mr. Doe is also a regular speaker and commentator at business seminars and conferences.
