Conference Producer/Legal Conference Producer

We are currently looking for energetic entrepreneurial individuals to join our team to research, develop, and manage conferences from initiation to completion for the legal, energy, and industrial markets across Canada.

Reporting to the Division Manager, the Conference Producer/Legal Conference will be responsible for achieving department objectives, ensuring continuous improvement of both procedures and products.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct telephone and in person research with potential attendees in a target market to develop conference agendas
  • Analyze research and use critical thinking to develop commercial conference programs that meet the stated needs of the market
  • Identify, invite and confirm appropriate speakers for conferences
  • Meet established deadlines
  • Write marketing copy for promotional conference brochures, and other mailing pieces
  • Conduct ongoing research within assigned area to further industry knowledge and develop potential new conference ideas
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key professionals, industry leaders, senior executives and media within relevant vertical markets
  • Service customers in a professional, service-oriented manner during execution of daily work and onsite at conferences
  • Attend and oversee conferences, including providing opening introduction, speaker assistance and support
  • Research and provide to Marketing Department strategic information required to market conferences, including: detailed information on the target market both in terms of industry sectors and disciplines and geographic markets, relevant industry associations, industry publications, and competitive events
  • Provide Sponsorship Department with strategic information on potential sponsorship opportunities. Provide ongoing support to Sponsorship as required
  • Work with and support a cross-functional team on an ongoing basis to ensure successful marketing and sponsorship of conferences

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree; LLB required for Legal Conference Producer position

Experience:

  • At least 3 years business experience
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or Journalism

Technical Capabilities:

  • MSWord, Excel, Outlook

Other:

  • Able to travel nationally - 10%
